Steve - Thank you for your dedication to producing fine late 60's Sunshine Pop discs. I devour them from Amazon monthly it seems.
Are you familiar with the 1969 Hanna Barbera carftoon Cattanooga Cats? There was a 10 song album that was released at the time on Mike Curb's Forward label - and all the songs were produced and written (or co-written) by the one and only Michael Lloyd. There were 32 songs done entirely and they can be found all over the internet. Some of them (Johnny Jump Up, Sleep Tonight, Alle Alle Oxen Free, Sit By The Fire Side) are truly amazing 2 minute slabs of sunshine bubblegum. The Cats versions of I Wish I Was a Fire and My Girlfriend is a Witch are superior to the originals that he produced on the October Country album, and the female vocals, when present, are handled by Peggy Clinger (who tragically passed four years later). Seek it out. I'm not a fan of cartoon music whatsoever, but this is Michael lloyd at his apex before he jumped the creative shark!
All the best and many thanks for bringing us such swell music !
May I request, however, that you make snippets available to give us an idea of how the music sounds ? That way we don't have to scan the blogosphere for an inkling.
